Schnaps, Bang, Wallop...

I'm feeling ever-so-slightly pleased with myself right now. Why? Well, sit down and let me tell you a tale. You see, it all started like this (cue harp music)...

I have a fear of flying. Hang on, that's not quite right. It's more a sweaty palms, heart-pounding, grip-the-seat-with-your-butt, is-it-too-late-to-get-the-boat, oh-my-God-I'm-going-to-die fear of flying. Some may see it as irrational and I can understand why.

For me, going anywhere near an airport is a crowning achievement in itself. But three days ago, I had no choice. In fact, I even had to board a plane! (which was nothing short of a bloody miracle) But I did it!

So what was the reason for putting myself through this Hell? I was on my way to attending my first ever writers' meeting overseas, which thankfully, turned out to be fab and groovy. And also a huge barrel of laughs. I found that three days in Copenhagen developing the new multi-platform series Crimeville, throwing ideas around and talking complete and utter gibberish, is a great way to spend your time.

In fact, I was having such a great time, the thought of the flight home escaped me completely. That was until late last night when terrifying realisation hit me! Oh crap!

This morning, as the plane bought me back home, my palms performed their usual impression of Niagara Falls. Still, the trip was worth it. I have some great memories; I've no doubt that one day, I'll look back at them fondly.

In fact, I could start tomorrow - it'll give me something to do while the doctor figures out a way to force my butt-cheeks to release this damn seat. After all, the airline wants it back...
